Hi all! So, I'm back again from my roadtrip with some great pics in my backpack and ready again to race for a good puls! :-)
AlexGaflig and me managed to visit during out last photo roadtrip the Plitvice lakes - one of the most beautiful and impressive place I have seen so far in my live.
I will not give you now the standard boring wikipedia description what plitvice is, how many lakes, which elevation etc. that you fall asleep, this you can google by yourself when you are not sleepy;-) I will focus on some good tips what really makes it easier for you to plan your visit.
- Opening hours: 7am to 8pm (with ticket) - but you can enter already without a ticket at any time before 7am or stay longer after 8pm, as doors are not shut outside business hours. The only thing you need to keep in mind is that busses and boats are not running and main parking areals close at 10pm.
- Parking: there are 2 main parking spaces at each of the 2 entrances, beside this it's getting difficult to find a regular parking space.
- Routes & Distance:
a.) full route: enter via entrance 2, take the free bus to ST3 (bus & boats are included in the entrance fee) and walk all the way down to entrance 2 (here you need to take the boat to change the side) and then exit on entrance 3. This will take you approx. 4-5h walking.
b.) half routes: enter entrance 2 and go to entrance 1 down or go up to ST3 where you can take the bus back to entrance 2.
c.) enter via entrance 1 and walk to entrance 2. This will take you approx.
- Accomodation: there are many accommodations for around 30-60€ per night per double room. The easiest way to find a good accommodation is to use booking.com or tripadvisor.com
Photo tip 1: Gear you need to have - prepare yourself definitely for long exposures!!! So bring with you a long tripod that you can also put into the water to avoid shakes from people passing, ND filters, some pocket lamps, water & food and as low weight as possible - you need to walk a lot!!! :-)
Photo tip 2: Best photo spots are on entrance 1 if you take the way up to entrance 2.
Photo tip 3: ask service staff for view points
Photo tip 4: during the time between 9am to 5pm it could get very crowded on the bridges. This could make it difficult to use a tripod if you like to make some long exposures as it can get very shaky when people walk by. So I recommend to start at 7am or after 6pm when less tourists are on the spot.
