Isthmus Peak, Lake Hawea
New Zealand
Do you hike to photograph, or do you take photographs of the hike?
I think I'm more of the latter and love the surge of endorphins exercise gives you . If that's not enough of a high, then when scenes like this unfold after 2 hours of intermittent rain while walking up in the dark, it definitely makes it even more worthwhile. It's interesting that when I was in Wanaka I was talking to another photographer about plans for the area. I mentioned I was going to do a couple of the peaks in the area but was met with a response of 'but it might rain'. My response was that it doesn't really matter! I just want to be up there ! Sometimes you end up with a painfully cold experience , sometimes you end up with some cool conditions like in this image. You just never know unless you go!
