The Watchful Eye
The Ocean has its silent caves,
Deep, quiet, and alone;
Though there be fury on the waves,
Beneath them there is none.
The awful spirits of the deep
Hold their communion there;
And there are those for whom we weep,
The young, the bright, the fair.
I promise, this will be the last picture I post of Arch Rock for a while.
This was one of the last shots I took before we headed back to Phoenix. I still wish the tides would have been lower because I would have loved to have been closer to the hole. Standing out in there, with the waves rushing past your feet really is something magical. One tends to forget the strength of the sea until a wave almost pulls you in.
There were two other photographers behind me while I was taking this shot. I felt bad for them; I had been there for an hour or so before they showed up and was running around the rocks getting pictures. They tended to stay back getting wider angle shots and I tried my best to not be in there way. Guess that’s one of the downfalls of finding a great place to shoot, it can get crowded sometimes.
