Kul Sharif Mosque -
the main Juma mosque of the Republic of Tatarstan and Kazan (2005)[1]; located on the territory of the Kazan Kremlin.
The construction of the Church began in 1996 as a recreation of the legendary mnogokanalnoj mosque of Kazan khanate, the centre of religious education and development of science of the Middle Volga region of the XVI century. The mosque was destroyed in October 1552 during the storming of Kazan by Ivan the terrible.
Named after its last Imam Seid Kul Sharif, one of the leaders of the defense of Kazan.
