Tse Bii 'Ndzisgaii, "the valley of the rocks" ... this is how Monument Valley Navajo call. In the heart of Indian country, this valley has remained unknown and quiet for many decades. But such a site probably could not remain secret for long. Thus, during the 1940s, Monument Valley has become a symbol of the Wild Wild West, thanks (or because some would say) from Hollywood and John Ford. Today, it is undoubtedly the Monument Valley Tribal Park that best characterizes the American Wild West and the idea that one is done. Who has not admired in a western this panorama and the famous red sandstone buttes planted in the desert? Who has not dreamed of riding at dusk amid the breathtaking scenery?
Happy National Day to all my American friends on this day July 4
