It’s not hard to find tulip fields in the Netherlands. They’re literally everywhere. The challenge is to find one that you can get up close and have the rows of flowers in the right direction. 99% of the tulip fields have the rows of flowers running the wrong way (for sunset shots), surrounded by water, or are fenced in. By the end of our trip, I’ve pretty much given up on finding a field that I can walk into and shoot. Then on our last night in The Netherlands, I happen to come up on this crazy field of tulips.
This is one of the biggest fields of tulips that I’ve ever seen, and the gate is wide open! We walked right in and stood at the edge of the tulip fields just taking it all in. Our next decision was if we should stay or head back to camp. We needed to leave because the gate at the campground closes at 10pm. If I stayed and shoot the sunset, we wouldn’t have enough time to make it back.
As the sunset approaches, the decision was pretty easy. We would be staying here and deal with the campground later. This is one of the best sunsets I had the whole trip! Finally the skies lit up with beautiful clouds. It was a perfect end for our trip.
