The lesser traveled north side of Mount Hood is a personal favorite area of mine, though the backpacking isn't the most pleasurable. Often times muddy with 100% chance of mosquito showers. Skin left exposed ends up looking like a dark brown shag carpet as it gets covered in the little bastards. Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but it still sucks. However the grand views of Hood from these meadows at Elk Cove are plenty rewarding, and of the few times I've been to this spot, you tend to have it all to yourself. A new instructional video is in the works and should be available within the next week. People seem to really be enjoying the videos and have had nothing but great things to say, so I *think* they are helping people... it's been awesome to see the many before/after shots people have been emailing me.
