An exciting evening of shooting on the Olympic coast of Washington yielded us some nice wave action shots and somehow we only lost one camera to salt water. With five meter high waves thundering down on the rock I was standing on, I would race back and forth trying to take cover up higher every time the next 'big one' was coming. My friend, on one of the trips I was leading, decided to stay put and got a great shot of the wave coming down out of the sky. While the kind of action behind the scenes was better felt than captured here, the capture depicts the more beautiful aspects of the show. The wave would crash in the background and then rush over the rock at my feet at high speed. In more than one exposure I was able to capture BOTH the rushing wave and next one exploding in the same 1/3 second exposure. The conditions were stormy that evening and made for some dramatic skies as well. I later decided to blend multiple shots for some additional fine details and extra width in my field of view, making this about 12mm.
