Sunsets can be overwhelming. Last week when I visited Kinderdijk I experienced one of those. For a short time I was running all over the place just trying to get the best shot. Normally I choose a spot and just wait until the best moment is there. My philosophy is better one or two great shots than five or more average ones. But this time was different and people seeing me in those minutes must have thought that I was some kind of local lunatic running around the place like crazy.
I was set for a classic shot from the main bridge but just when the sky colored so beautifully the wind increased and the wonderful reflections over the main canal vanished within seconds. Noooooo, that was not what I had in mind. So, plan B was needed....uhh plan B ? I had no plan B this time. After a small panic attack I decided to go for a spot where the water was still calm and where the wind had no grip to spoil my so beloved reflections. While running I didn't see a huge turd dropped by a big dog passing by minutes ago. So with full speed I stepped into the turd, slipped and made a split that would have scored at least a 9 at the olympics and while doing so I said hello back to a friendly local just passing by and wishing me a good evening. I must say she did gave me a strange look but under the circumstances fully understandable.
In the meantime the sky had turned into a painting with gorgeous vibrant colors. Eventually I was able to take a few shots and after 10 minutes or so the colors vanished as fast as they appeared earlier. But hey......everything for a good shot, right ? :)
