Sometimes when you go out, nothing much happens. You don't meet any lovely people and no one even seems to notice you are there. This is how it was last night at Portland. The weather has been a mixture of extremes lately and I had a feeling that once the thunder, lightening and incessant rain had cleared, that a decent sunset may be on the cards. You see, the most dramatic sunsets always follow the most angry of weathers. So I headed to Portland and after not too long, was greeted with this crazy sunset.
I shot this as a 6 shot panorama as I really wanted to give the viewer a sense of scale in the image. Shooting at 16mm simply wasn't enough to capture both the vastness of the sea, the water disappearing into that little cave and the sunset above it. So I shot wide, rally wide. But I had to be quick, the sun was melting fast. This was the only shot I got, but I think it was worth it.
