Portland Head Light Goes Epic
Stephen Beckwith - Harrison, Usa

Every shot has a story. This one begins with me getting out of my 12hr night shift job at 6:00am this morning in South Portland. Typically, I then make the one hour drive to my home in Harrison, grab as much sleep as possible during the day, then turn around and do it all again for tonight's shift. I don't do too many photo shoots during my work week, I certainly need all the beauty sleep I can get. This morning though, when I got out and checked on the sky, I noticed the possibility of an epic sunrise beginning to form. Lots of dynamic clouds in the sky with a bright patch of dawn light on the horizon. As I headed towards the highway and back home, I kept looking in my rear view mirror and the internal debate began. Do I do the right thing for my health and wellbeing and head right home to bed, or do I take a chance, turn around, and head somewhere to see what happens? Well.....I turned around and zoomed to Fort Williams Park and this is what happened. Mother Nature went ballistic and boy oh boy don't I love it when she does that!
