Self-portrait from the summit of Mount Avens a couple of days ago.
On top, a small pile of rocks with a lone note that read "possible first ascent". Whether I was the second or third or tenth to wander along the summit ridge is irrelevant. It just amazes me that we can still find those near-virgin summits around here, in a park considered to be "busy".
It truly is a privilege in 2016 to stand where few have stood and gaze down at unnamed lakes and untrodden valleys. With a little luck I'll be exploring and photographing this lake from its shores some time down the road...
