Couple things first.. 1) these are wild woodpeckers in my yard. 2) this is a composite, the little female Downy landed right after the male Pileated, similar lighting and angle allow me to combine them and show some cool scales. LoL...That beautiful Pileated is so "Yuge", it reminded me the Great Leonopteryx in Avator when comparing to the little guy. The Pileateds are typically camera shy but yesterday I got lucky, he decided to perch before hitting the feeder, missed his tail due to his size but I was thrilled to even have a capture of this handsome fella nevertheless..
