Just returned from a fantastic ski mountaineering trip to the Columbia Icefield. I had been there a few times before, but this is probably my favourite vantage point in the entire area:
The incredible north face of Mount Columbia (highest peak in Alberta at 3,747m) drops a dizzying 2,200m to the cerulean headwaters of the Athabasca River. Thanks to Luke for the sense of scale, and to Mount Columbia for sending down a big avalanche just as I was shooting. smile emoticon The summit of the South Twin is just to the right of Luke in this shot.
Big thanks to Mike and Luke for an amazing trip!
