Foam bath, anyone? It has something to do with Mono lake’s chemical composition plus strong winds, making the entire lake a foam brewing machine.
Got there and the whole shoreline was covered with it. Bye bye to my pre visualized comps, plus i cant seem to find new ones that would suit my taste. Told myself why not go low and see what it would look like? Tadaaaaaaa! A worm’s perspective, the tufas looked like huge towers! The foam were a couple of inches away from my lens and with the wind blowing strong, i know i have to use a fast shutter to freeze it up! So its multiple focus + multiple exposure time!
So here's to using the foam at my advantage and making the best out of the condition that was given.
So if you are curious on how I took this shot, I use a Canon 5dmk3, 16-35f2.8L lens. All taken at 16mm focal length with a 3 stops ND filter attached then refocused on each shot. For sky - iso 50, 1/5secs @ f22. For foreground - 16mm, iso 400, 1/200secs @ f11. Middle ground - 16mm, 1/400 secs, iso 500 @ f8. Fyi, I’m lazy at removing and reattaching filters, so settings a bit far apart. lol!
