The original description written at the time: It was definitely on the other side of 40 degree’s and the humidity was near intolerable. Despite this our attire for the climb was to be long pants and a long sleeve shirt or (in my case) a jacket. Snakes, Jack explained. I wasn’t going to doubt him as the day before our walk along a path through an old village had been brought to an abrupt halt as a snake being chased by a chicken passed in front. I had been told that this wasn't a regular type ‘lookout’ per se and that the standing room at the top was limited to maybe just 1 or 2 people so as we approached the base of the climb Jack disappeared off into a farmers hut to ask if he had seen anyone come past before us, fortunately he hadn’t. We were the only ones. Loud snake beating sticks and water bottles in hand we set off. I’ve seen some stunning vista’s before but nothing like this. There were no 12,000ft snow-capped mountains in front of me. No giant valleys or turquoise lakes. Instead, this was beautiful chaos. Green karst peaks jabbed and protruded out of the landscape as far as the eye could see as if sketched by a child. Littered and scattered amongst them were vivid fields of incredible colours. Just as I had been warned, this was no kept lookout. The rocks were tousled and jagged and the drop on every side was, well, vertical. I had no panoramic head with me and had opted to keep things simple and climbed with just my tripod, camera, 1 lens and some grad filters so with a few selfies on my phone out of the way I made myself comfortable and took in the sunset from one of the most remarkable lookouts I may have ever seen.
