I took this image 2 years ago and honestly, it was just too much of a project to put together at that time and I subsequently moved on. It wasn't until I was developing some new manual stitching techniques that I had something of a revelation here, about how I would put it together. This is a 12-shot stitch and also each image was a major focus stack. These improbable Penstemon flowers come up every year here, amazing little footprint-sized gems of pink adorning the steep, dry, volcanic hillside squeezing what little they can from the fleeting snowmelt to further their existence.
